Reminds me of a concept in which internet games are used to generate a kind of "common knowledge" as a base for optimized search results in search engines like google.
I don't remember who posted that link, I even don't remember if it was on this forum or another... well I forgot any hard fact about it
... but ...
there were some games, where one (player) was shown a picture and one had to choose out of a bunch of words describing it... you could play those games against any other internet user... the one who had needed the least words had won...
A few games based on this concept are around I guess, leading to the only goal to generate a base for a more effective search in engines...
So the user was used as the "human processing unit"... I believe it was called that way... like.. no cpu could generate such a word-power as hundreds of thousands internet-users trying to identify one single picture...
