Heya, sorry about the delay...
Nope, for image 2 we used another method... it's just a single mesh with water material applied and a texture for the bump/roughness slot (cant remenber who posted the texture).

This method takes way too much time to get a noise free surface and to show the caustics trought it. Anyway, i dont use this too often.
