Before i purchase a new 8 core can people confirm that they are working well enough with 1.5.0.2 ?
I know there are still many little bugs but just want to check that I can use this.
Running g5 2.5 duals at present.
What kind of speed increase can I hope to see ?
Im hoping 6-10 times for the highest spec macpro

Hi pipcleo

I have a 8 Core Macpro and compared to my G5 dual core 2,5 it is about 6 times faster. Network coop render sadly still doesn't work with the Macpros but Iif you are planing to render just one picture at a time, the 8 core still rocks the house. And if things don't work out with the mac version of maxwell you still can boot windows and give it a shot there. I suggest to get the Macpro as soon as you can get your hands on it. You will not regret it.

Hi.
I fully agree. My 8core box is kicking ass! And also: I am not happy at all with network rendering, plus the size limitation currently with 4000px...
But anyway, it is really fast and 1.5 was a good step forward - keep on running NL!!

Cheers, Klaus

what is the 4000 pix limitation ?
is this a macpro 8 core issue ?
I am rendering higher res than that on a G5

when i do a standalone rendering on my 8core, i can render higher than 4000px. But there are still fireflies in Intel-based renderings :-( NL is working on it.... (hopefully...)

The 4000px thing seems to be an issue when you are doing a coop rendering.
