I don't mean to quibble here Tom, but all I can seem to do with the free version is save a BMP map...and that doesn't work as far as I can see.
It may be "The Best Texture Generator On The Planet" and it better be for $21,370.40...

The demo scene maniacs Oh well I was just too young to start coding when my brother had his own demo group

I really love working with procedural textures but I use them only for refining detail of the main raster texture. Aside from some wooden floors I've never seen a good example of creating a real looking texture only by procedural textures.

Human interaction with procedurals is really needed or a completly new way of generating procedural textures in a kind of a progressive natural generation (sort of like Ivy generator). Allegorithmic did a nice job with the interactive tools in their MapZone product and DarkTree company is doing a great job with Tactile Ink http://www.darksim.com/html/tactile_ink.html But still.... there's something missing

Don't worry Tom. As an ex-true scener fan I can still appreciate hilarious stuff like this little demo which came on the CD with the Gravis Ultrasound Max my bro bought a long time ago.

Ever wondered what some of the ex-demo sceners do now for living?? My friend an old demo scene veteran developed this nifty Circulation thing which is real-time VJing software for all your realtime video mixing and distorting fun. In other words - pure 2d scripted and real-time controlled madness

Also speaking about real-time madness. Check this out. This is a demo that comes with the 8800 gts/gtx NVIDIA cards. Real-time 3d smoke and fluid simulation.

I never thought that I would see a 2d grid in such a resolution move so fast on a good CPU. But damn!!!! This is a 3d grid and it's mainly calculated by the GPU. The 8800 GTX is a monster

You need to add an export node below the whole stack. Press "1" and choose Export in the bottom right, kinda complicated i know.

Can someone explain what the 'demo scene' is for me? I'm amazed I'm so out of the loop here, I was a big amiga supporter in the day ( I owned a tsr80, then a pet, then a vic20, then a home built appleII, then an amiga, and finally a pc) My amiga is still in the closet (2000HD with 3mb ram and a flicker fixer card, plus 105mb scsi).
