I've been running Maxwell on an M70 for some time now, and it's ok, but if I render for longer periods, i put a pen or something like that under it, to lift it off the table - if i don't it overheats and crashes

i was running it on my alienware Area-51m (4 years old) -- it worked fine, it just wasn't a screamer although the fans were quite loud (typical for the 51m) and constantly on.

I'm running Maxwell on Precision M70 and never had any problem with it (with only 1 GB of RAM  ). I have it in the docking station, lifted a bit which helps a lot with cooling.

I run it on the lappy in my sig without any probs. I have some of my sons building blocks underneath it to match my lcd monitor which helps with the airflow.

only in the winter..... it saves me money on my heating bill. i leave one cooking in the living room, one in the den, and one at the foot of the bed when i go to sleep. then in the morning i throw all three of them in the boiler and me and nelson wait for them to merge as we ride to work.

Honestly i've never tried, but can imagine the amount of heat produced during the proccess. (sorry for my ill humor today)

rusteberg: LOL

I used to run it on my M70 all the time, I never did anything to help the cooling, and never had a problem. The M70 is pretty slow in comparison to most new machines now though. The M90 probably cools better because it's bigger and should have more open space inside. Either way, the whole line is designed for crunching, so it really shouldn't have any problems, although the M70 is a bit of a troublesome POS. Can't complain too much when Dell sends someone to your house to swap out a motherboard 2 years after purchase though.

My Dell M90 works really fine with maxwell overnight renderings without any problems.
I just ensure that there is enough space behind the machine. (On my messy desktop) For a good air circulation, I set the back on two DVD cases. But I think that isn't really necessary
