yeah it is a little thick for whiskey...and beer would have some foam at places....awesome shots whatever is may be!

Thanks very much for the kind words Tim, but I have lots of catching up to do with you and many others around here!

Thanks rendek - I'm hoping to eventually figure out how to get fluids that don't look like motor oil, but it's a slow battle atm :? One thing at least: most of the reference I looked at didn't look wildly different. Even water takes on some of that quality when it's really frozen and has amost no motion blur. Anyway, I'm trying :)

Wow man, those last ones are pretty amazing! Playing with multilight must be fun with all those reflections and caustics going on :D

Thanks Chris, Tea-Bag, and dutch_designer! I'll post the ice materials to the mxm gallery later on.

Multilight is a HUGE advantage for this kind of image - allows so much control for high-contrast subjects like this (although the benchmark on this scene was punishing and ML didn't help :) ) I think I pumped out about 4-5 lighting versions of each image and merged them together for the finals. Amazing tool!

Hey all - here's the requested wireframe. I also put a screen grab of the glu system setup. It doesn't show the mesh parameters but gives a rough idea of how the glu pour was set up. I think the screen grab is from a different frame than the one I used in the end, but you get the gist.

I have an iceless version but this looks much better, except your glued whiskey is as viscous as my handmade water. :D hehe

lol - Doing the best I can! It's a pain in the arse to get it any thinner without it looking like total crap :)

Thanks Michael - much appreciated!

Chris: :)
Sorry to disappoint, but I cheated on the caustics for this one :)
I made an mxi out of a water shot I had here and used it as an emitter on the back plane/wall. Got the basic idea from your awesome fish tank image and I figured it would be faster (it was - this image had pretty welled cleared at SL12 !) The same map is also used as a reflector/emitter on the left side (hidden from camera) to key up the splashing.

The ice cube material has been posted to the MXM gallery. There's a clearer and frostier version used in the whiskey shots - both have been upped. Hope you guys find them useful.
