Hi everyone.

Since upgrading to the new version 1.5.2 I can't start either maxwell manager nor maxwell server on my Macpros 2.66 GHZ anymore. I already deinstalled everything and reinsatlled maxwell but still can not start these programs.

Any ideas?

Have you checked you can connect to the servers with Finder->Go->Connect To server... -> afp://<computer ip> ?

If you have installed any osx security os OSX update recently it probably broke. Apple has a bug on it on some machines. Contact me if you have this problem and I'll send you a OSX library that will make it work.

I just checked if I can access my Macpro 8 Core from the Macpro 2,66 and that' not the problem. I can connect both macs just fine. I can not start the server app ( or manager) of maxwell render anymore. The icon apperas in the doc for a few seconds, bounces up and down twice and disappears. And when I the open MXCL the Console windows reads: "WARNING: Demo Mode".

????????

What? Why? I dunno? Please help me out here. Need this to be fixed soon.

remember that if you need to do a cooperative rendering, you still can do it manually. not a solution for the networking problems, but just in case you need to meet a deadline

or you can try to repair permissions with diskutility. also go and check the prebindings. you can do that with terminal or helpers like onyx...

sudo update_prebinding -root /

you need to type you admin password here... that made me start programs that won´t start after a security update from apple...

@ carsten: if nothing changes go ahead and make a new user with admin privileges and test it there. then you know if something in your userlibrary causes the trouble.

Got that thing worked out and have also found out why the servers kept crashing on my Macpros and the G5 here. I turned off the radiobutton on the "bitmaps" folder in the rendersettings dialog field and it finally started to connect everything but then maxwell kept sending the file to the other macs and the percentage stood still at 7 and 20 %. After 10 min the file was still beeing sent. And when I enter a valid external bitmap folder where all the textures reside the system still doesn' connect. So no luck again.

Have you gotten any further? Any luck?

No luck here either. I will try the repair permissions, but I know I did that already before this latest 1.5.0.2 update as an attempt to solve this problem. Still crashing the server after the job is sent. At some point, I had a couple instances of restarting the server app and it would start rendering a previously sent job immediatley. I had no way to stop it since manager was not even sending anything. Weird. Since the update though, nothing works. I will try again tonight when I get home.
