Thanks! I've been pulled onto another project (that needs to be finished by Tuesday morning) so this restaurant is going to be put on hold for a bit…

very slight update, only trying out the updated glare features of 1.5 in a night -lighting situation.

Reflections:

Not sure how efficient this is comparitvely, but it worked for me the few times I have tried it: render out a version with the windows done using a hi-gloss black material and comp that version in Photoshop using screen/lighten type modes and fade it in with opacity. It does mean another render, but that type of mat renders fast for me.

looks like you've put some vaseline on the cam or had smokers sitting there for hours...

nice model and lighting.

You really ought to lose the middle row of tables and increase the size of the 4 top tables. There does not enough room for service and people sitting comfortably in this space. Do you have a 3' clear aisle way on each side of that central table and the backs of the chairs on each side???? Looks to be about 2' or so. You might review code requirements for paths of travel in public spaces. i think this room *might* be over crowded.

Renderings look promising though!

been busy, and this project has "died" in the office (it was just a proof of concept anyways)

@Daniel: It's tight and right at the code maximums, I personally don't feel comfortable with it being this way (an argument with the boss) but I was told that I needed to fit 50 people in…

Just messing around with some materials to get the feel of the space, need to work more on, well, everything

Looks great with some colors in there!
One question for you, I've done alot of resturants lately, but I never get really satisfied. Are you going to dress this one with bottles, plates etc?

thanks

yeah, restaurants have a lot of little detail which is why this thing is going slowly--there's a that's still needed.

fairly recently read "In Praise of Shadows" and considering using some of the concepts in it.

Thinking of:

a couple having an intimate dinner, vaseline on the lens kind of image

another with tablecloths on all tables and one "floating" down on to one (borrowing a concept from still-life painters by showing a moment in time that you'd never be able to see, like an apple on the very edge of a table)

then there's the bar with all of its "stuff"…would be fun to do drinks with just the drink and no glass

So, is this a known issue?
