Loved the suspance at the end...it's from the ending of star wars episode V that i didn't feel such a thrill!
Really useful mike, thanks a lot

mike,

thank you very much for the video.

Since I started using maxwell I have issues with white surfaces. I ended up settling at 225, but it is still too gray. However, if you go up to 242 you add on my machine another easy 30-40 hours of render time, bringing it up to 110 hours. (centrino duo)

Interior scenes with physical sky, sun and emitters do not seems to be feasible unless you have a hundred 'cows' in your farm.

The 2.2 gamma delivers scenes without any contrast for me. No idea what I am doing wrong. Even when I use the calibrated mxm scene base

Thanks,

Gernot

Mike might be able to give you some more ideas, but the issue could be with the calibration of your display device (the screen). For example, I've been having a small issue lately because my Macbook's default screen Gamma is 1.9, instead of the 'normal' 2.2. When I bring images from the Mac over to my PC, they look much too dark! If I were rendering with Maxwell on the Macbook I assume that I would change the Gamma to 1.9 to coincide with the screen Gamma.

Perhaps find one of the many 'screen calibration' type images on the web to help you get a better brightness and contrast on your screen, then your Maxwell images will look much better.

EDIT: Oops I didn't see that you created a new thread about it, I hope you have it sorted out now! :D

Does this also apply to colors other than white? For example a red color with rgb values higher than the recommended limit.

Mike, yes, there's a section on that in the video at the end.

Vol. 2 is in progress, nearly there...
