Everything related to Maxwell Render and general stuff that doesn't fit in other categories.

I guess i substituted the backup folder containing 1.1 materials with a second copy of the 1.5 version. My fault

@admin:cancel this post since it is completely unuseful

Original message was:

This is REALLY bad for me now. Reinstalled 1.1, canceled all preferences and canceled all maxwell folders.
But SURPRISE! mxed does not load anymore any mxm, nor studio can load any mxm.
This is REEEEEEEEAAAAAALLY bad for me.

Hm, you must still have some leftovers in your registry and possibly also some folders & files left behind in various places on your system. Remove anything in your registry related to Next Limit and Maxwell Render, then search your system for files left behind and remove those. Then try installing 1.1 again and see if that helps..

Thanx a lot for the quick reply, maximus. Forgot to mention anyway that i am running OSX and i should have already canceled all necessary files....
What is weird to me is that even on the other computer, where i havden't installed 1.5 everything is messed up. The old mxs coming from the computer where i have installed 1.5 do not open anymore, and all the mxm seem to be corrupted. When i try to open one of those mxm with mxed 1.1 on the untouched computer, i get an error message saying that the object sphere has triangles with no material associated.
Maybe i am doing something wrong but i am almost desperate because i cannot use my work of the past week and on monday i have to meet the clients and to bring them the project FINISHED!

AAAAAAAAARRRGGGGHHH!

Going to have lunch now and hopefully my brain will be back from the vacation in the afternoon....

I can totally understand your frustration and i would experience the very same feelings :( it's not fun. But you said you're on a Mac with OSX hmm.. unfortunately i never used one so i have no clue how they operate and what you can and can't do but if you try something similar to what i suggested above and go through it methodically and calmly try to sort out each issue at a time, stressing through it won't solve the issue faster or better.

And if any other OSX user can help you with this or even some NL staff then they should try to do so asap.

Hope you get this sorted out Mattia, keep us posted on your progress.

Hi mattia ¡¡

Have you deleted yet the preferences from maxwell??

Go to User library > Preferences and search "maxwell" delete all the plist docs you found, and then reinstall.

Hope it works mate. :)

Not wanting to delete 1.1 just yet, I had named the new folder 'Maxwell 1_5' and it only caused problems (eg. MXCL would not open from Studio). Changing the folder name back to 'Maxwell' fixed the problems. I also zipped an archive of the 1.1 folder just to be safe.

Maybe changing the Maxwell folder name might help with your problems.

Regards,
Tim
