Hi guys,

NL, thanks for the update! The new features look very promising, especially the matte material.

But ... one odd thing: I don't see the fStop and Shutterspeed values in my Max camera anymore. Anyone else encountered this? I'm using the 64-bit Maxwell and 64-bit Max plug-in. Everything else seems to be working properly (new Maxwell material with the Matte option etc.).

Thanks and cheers,

Metin

Sorry, my mistake! I was still looking at the create panel's rollout, but the Maxwell options in the camera rollout turned out to only show up when you switch to the Modify panel.

Now that it's out, can anybody who knows anything explain the improvements to the render core in this release? E.g., can we expect more efficiency in clearing noise, caustics, etc.?

WELL- I can so far only speak for the OSX Version. It keeps crashing on my MacPro 8 core with 8 Gig of RAM. Haven't gotten ANY rendering so far as everything keeps crashing and the UI is super slow and hard to use. I hope things will get better but so far I'm a bit dissapointed.

Hmmm . . . that's not good. Got the same setup. I hope you are wrong about that.

Can't get on the server anyway so I guess I'll find out tomorow.

I can see they've made changes. My noise looks different. I think there's a new sample munging algorithm in here, but it's hard to tell whether it's helping me until I run some more difficult tests. It seems to be taking a while to develop contrast...

Also, MXST ate my RAM. I've got one running now where MXCL is takin 250MB (it's not high res) but MXST was taking 1GB.

When I get home I'll try it on my Mac and see what happens...

Yes, THANK YOU Next Limit, for the non-support of older versions of Cinema4D.
With 8.5, the plugin doesn´t even show up.

I was looking forward to beeing able to make use of better memory handling, now i must admit the cash spent on this renderer really was money straight down the drain.

Thanks for the big surprise guys.

there are several programming reason why support for older c4d version is difficult and problematic for 3rd party engines. to not support 8.5 is not realy nls fault. 9.6 is the earliest version which can be supported in a usefull way.

Funny that the last version worked with 8.5.
It would be a completely different story if this would´ve been Maxwell V2, but it´s still an 1x update.

I stick to my opinion about the cash.
