Yep, sorry to hear that Tim...........not nice.

Client quote of the day:
'Stu, we need help. We took your nice anim and put some extra text overlays on [on the super cheap no doubt .ed] however it's all gone fuzzy and we've now saved over the original..........'

One of my favorite client quotes:

"We love the forest, it 's great, but can we do something about all the trees? They're really competing for attention"

(an ad for a Canadian bank which was supposed to be simply a pic of a man standing in a forest admiring the giant redwoods etc.)

this just happened yesterday:

i made an animation with several sequences.
they decided it would be nice to have some sound and spoken description in the background to support the film.
so i made the raw cut and send it to the sound studio.
after a couple of days i got an email from my client forwarding a list of demands from the sound studio:

"we need 16 more seconds on the first sequence. then 6 sec and 5 frames on the second, 7sec 3 frames on the third .... " and so on. and they would need a new cut quickly or otherwise they would just do the finished sound in their desired length without the cut, leaving the fine tuning to the visuals team.

i was speechless. have you heard this before ? a supporting sound demands a completly new animation ?

hope you have fun with this - i am still struggling here
cheers

problem is bigK that you would usually do the voice over before the animation!
Anyway, the storyboard and voice over should be finalised before even the sound people get it so it seems like your client is all arse over tit anyway! (so to speak!)
here is an idea, use high quality still images with a few pans and zooma to pad it out a bit

josh,
yeah i know the voice over would be better to have it before starting the animation. problem is that they got the idea to have a voice just when the animation was finished.
about the still images and panning, thanks for the idea, i was thinking about something like this, too. now the problem is, are they gonna pay for this...

cheers
