Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

I know it is forbidden but I have to say what I feel when I come on this forum now. I know the thread will be locked and I'll certainly get banned, but who cares?...not even me...
This forum is now a strange place where you can be off topic only if you say you are happy with Maxwell Render and Next Limit...
I know there must be rules, but what you are doing now is killing the spirit of this place.
It's a shame to see NL being so good when developping this great tool MR is and so poor in communication..."I don't say what I do, I don't (always) do what I say and you don't have the right to tell me you're not happy with that!"
I know all this will not change anything but this is how one of your paying customer feels.

I will agree that the forum feels very strange now.

I did not see any out of control posts or rants, so it seems very odd to have imposed the new forum rules and lock down actions at this time.

I'm puzzled too

hmm, could You be a little more precise with that feeling ?

a long time ago, i read in a 3d magazine about the «spirit» of the maxwell render forum as a kind of «poser forum» where all the big guys play like machos. :)

i certainly know that whatever policy NL chooses, it will never be satisfying for everyone. some people are simple more relaxed and some people are very frustrated.

i've been here now for quite some time and i must say it was always like this:
(no offence meant here...)
1) news: we will have a new version «soon»
2) time passes
3) people have optimistic spirit
4) time passes
5) people start to moan
6) people get upset
7) some people lose their mind and start rioting
8) an announcement comes //yeah, that smiley sucks here.
9) people are optimistic
10) time passes
11) software is released
12) people cry out loud and praise NL for being the best and that they are lucky to be part of the game
13) two days later, offences come towards NL about uselessness of the new update
14) time passes
15) see 1)

well, i know i have not yet such a large pressure of deadlines since i'm still in education (for two more weeks.. :) ) and i understand it's been a long time for every maxwell user, especially the ones that used alpha.
but the images we see every day in the galleries prove that maxwell is a grown piece of software that works !

i just know one thing for sure: for me personally, i enjoy the «not knowing what comes» part, because like this it's like a dream come true when it finally happens.

does it not come down to the question if a paying customer has the right to get the desired software package he was promised at a certain point in time? i have no answer for that and thus i'm «silent». i don't know IF there even is an answer for that.

there have been people here wanting to sue NL for a non-working product or similar things, people were banned from the forum. i know there is a desire to talk about problems some people have, but at a normal noise level. without getting excited.
one HUGE disadvantage while typing on a forum is that there are so many misunderstandings that were not meant to be !!

* * *

why would it be forbidden to say that You're unhappy...

and again... this spirit-thing You're mentioning... that goes up and down all the time... wait some more and it'll blow the roof !!

heads up, dude !

It seems something strange is going to happen...
The new release will be called 1.5, because it is a too big step to be called 1.2... but there is no MPDM in it, only better memory management, simulens and Z-clip...
Do you know what?
I want to be positive!!!!
I think that until the end of this week NL will give us a wonderful release of maxwell render with a lot of feature we are not thinking about!!!! :D

Ciao, Gio

I was under the impression that there are some other new features they have yet to tell us about?

Calm down everybody, it has been promised for this week, there are only a few days left to go.

Listen to some music, go outside, have a cup of tea(coffee), walk the dog, water the plants.....etc.....

And Lock......I presume...... I can see Nicole with the keys!!!!

Don't get me wrong guys...Eventhought MR is not perfect, I'm happy with it already and I'm using it in production everyday.
I'm not complaining about development delay or missing features... I know NL will take the time they need to provide the best product they can do.
I only think that a company should always listen to their customer and should not tell them to shut up when they say they are unhappy.

"only better memory management"

that alone and the shift lense is worth the update for me! it makes a very very huge difference. and i am very amazed how much they could optimze it.
now we can really render big images.
by the way you forgot some important features....i think they where said in public already.

cheers

Perhaps the new rules are enforced just a bit too much, and that then kicks back on us users in a negative way ..it scares us silent :( and i can't say i think it's a good idea now when the 1.5 release is just a few days away.

They want a active forum with active users on it now, not the opposite.

I'd like to have a bit more slack on here please, having the "threat" of getting our threads locked and being possibly banned for what could be a joke or a posting in the wrong section or something else isn't feeling all that good. Don't get me wrong, there should be rules and we should obey them but the rules shouldn't too tight so we run for our life instead of chat here.

well, that message is pretty clear but also says nothing about people can not speak their minds, of course as long as the tone is acceptable.

there have been a lot words used here that would never appear on american tv EVER ! :) (well, they don't even allow the word «fire» tssss)

yes, these rules are pretty «tight», but shouldn't they be / or are everywhere else also to prevent flame-wars ?

also, by spamming i understand opening new threads without having checked the search feature! in many cases, a similar thread existed one or two pages later on.

trust me, we do not want the N-girl to become angry....... :(
