Mighty fine work Thomas  this looks great! and i'm sure the rendertimes is as impressive as the renderings themselves considering you were using dispersion.

wow Thomas ! Amazing, though pretty normal coming from you ! Is the diamond mat physically accurate ? It looks too good to be true !

You're Maxwell's cooking chief!

Beautiful work as always, Thomas.
Modeling, layout, setting, lighting, etc are easy on the eyes. Very nice bit of visual interest with that piece in the background.

Did a Swarovski display inspire the lighing array?

One the down side, if the metal had any unique virtues (engraving, displacement, matte/high polish finish, etc) I'm not sure they could come across. I am reminded of the jewelry renderer's constant problem......Do I make the metal look good *or* do I make the gems look good. Getting the metal to show itself as well as the gem to sparkle is a constant tug-a-war.
I always look forward to seeing you work.

Not sure I have witnessed that problem. I am usually happy with the result ... but there might scenarios that I haven't encountered yet.

This is not like anything I design or make, but demonstrates some of the same issues. The metal, very high labor to produce, must be shown with equal care as the gems. And virtually all of my pieces include engraved gems, which only adds to the complications.
Thus my dream of Maxwell allowing for "include/exclude" with regard to materials and lighting. Thus some materials are lit with some lights and not others and vice versa.
Did I say that right? Cinema's AR allows it, as do most other biased render engines.
Hope I didn't touch "the third rail" here.

Yeah, I knew you would say that.
Though I would never use such function.
