It's done in post, better anyway to do these things in post, much more control. Btw, it's possible to exclude objects from zclip planes :)

So... is clipping s.th. one can turn on/off like Multilight sliders? Or do you have to render twice to get one render with and one w/o clipping...?

So, is it possible to have a custom Z-plane taken from any mesh-object? I wish it's like a boolean operation, just before rendering.

Actually IMO there is no good reason to do this while rendering...

With a layer mask in Photoshop you have way more options to mix and
match without doing another render because the clip map changed...

Yes, you need two picts then to begin with, but you wouldn't get a perfect
match with a clipping plane mask in the first try either, I suppose :-)

Kabe,

I dissagree - the most important feature of the Z-Clip feature is really that it simplifies removing half the model to look "inside" while preserving the lighting scenario that happens inside the object. If you wanted to do it using compositing in p-shop you would have to create your exterior render, create your interior render while hiding 1/2 of your model to the camera (which to me is the real pain - can't do it in the Rhino plugin), then do the p-shop work. SO much faster with z-clip, although I agree it would be amazing to do this post-render with any arbitrary plane...

[edit: oops, just saw Mihai's post - coooool that this is done in post!]

Nicole, how about something for the weekend?

Just one more thing to keep my mind occupied over the weekend in a beer fuelled haze!

I don't think so, Nicole said 2-3 pages back that early next week she would reveal a new feature again. I assume that means nothing more new today.. or this weekend, but next week.
