Hello everyone,

First of all: thanks for your patience so far……it’s been a long wait, but we’re almost there. Everything is going to plan, however, a bit more endurance is required. We are testing a complex release, for Windows (32 and 64 bit), OSX and Linux….for more than ten different plug-ins, with a new manual, with many new resources….. and that takes time. We hope to release it as soon as possible, but the fact remains that we will release it when it’s ready, when we are certain we are giving you the best new version possible, in every way.

I understand that threads like the interesting “No news is good news?” one are used to make the wait bearable, but please understand that your pressure won’t add anything good to this release.

So, early next week I will be revealing a cool new feature….    :D Until then, here is a cool z-clip render from Nico…. 8)

I bet, they are not going to make it till "mid-may".
Well, let me go further and bet, that they ain't gonna do it in this month... at all.
To put it to the top: there will be a 3rd date (1st date: 1st quarter 2007, 2nd date: "Mid-May").... and my guess is..... July - August 2007...

(I hope I'll loose this bet, of course...)
Looks like I was wrong, I guess I owe you a beer.

Nicole, thanks for the news about the progress of it. Keep us updated regularly so we know what's going on and about how much longer we have to wait and so on.

Z-clipping looks nice there :)

Hy Nicole,

can you tell me, if there will be a 32 bit Linux version from the moment of the v1.5 release?

If not, will it come later?

Thank you!

I love Nico's work!

The Z clipping is a really nice feature, and working in Architecture, this will be an invaluable addition.

 blimey that z-clip mix thing. Is that done in post, or can you add masks to the clipping plane?

Hey Vinys,
can you tell me, if there will be a 32 bit Linux version from the moment of the v1.5 release? If not, will it come later?
For now, there will only be a 64 bit version for Linux... it is free and every machine from the past three years supports it. If there is a lot of demand for a 32bits version we could consider it for later.

Hope it helps... thanks!

I wonder how would z-clip look like when cutting a transparent object (let's say glass)...

and I wonder too what are those new features you are hiding so tightly...

Oh man - I can't wait to get my hands on 1.5... I have a model all set - huge model, huge render, Z-Clip... Its going to be a long "mid-may"...

I wonder if the Z-Clip feature is any random plane, or it has to be perpendicular to the line of the camera... Would be nice to be able to slice horizontally, not just vertically...

things have progressed... all 'bet they will fail' stuff aside.

I seem to recall that NL used to miss deadlines AND be unapproachable.

Nicole with "we are working, and it is coming soon" is exactly what we were all whining for with the beta. UPDATES.

I find it easy to be patient and understanding if I know what is going on. I also understand the nature of production and she's right, 10 plugins, bugs, features... It's a gamble dating anything with a hard date. 'sometime in May' would be more appropriate for such a large update. :P

thanks Nicole.

Just to be sure, that I would not have to drink some other then german beer, I said July-August 2007... so let's see if they can't release this thing before July-August... I would really prefer to offer you a german beer then consuming the "beer" you have in the USA... So I am REALLY hoping to loose this one... :D
