We kinda do, it's called Labor Day, but it's usually in September.

May 1st is worker's day everywhere but U.S. That's because the date comes from some clash between workes on strike and the police in the U.S. resulting in a bunch of dead workers. And U.S. authorities don't like to celebrate that.

I was talking to a co-worker about May Day and we both remember celebrating it in elementary school in the '60's here in the US. We had May Poles set up, everybody dressed in white and other bright colors and there were cook outs at school. There were sporting events and singing. Lots of fun. It was like a "Begining of Spring" day or something.
We also knew about its association with organized labor.
Curious as that was during the Cold War and I lived just south of a large Air Force base.
These days, there are no celebrations I know of.
I miss it, as I have fond memories of May Day. Just another thing that's been taken away from kids in the US.

In Italy is "Festa dei Lavoratori" or "Festa del lavoro" ("Worker's day" - "Work's day") the 1st May too.
It was born in USA more than hundred years ago...well.. good job!

Ours had ribbons we held was we moved in a circle, singing. The ribbons wound up on the pole. When our circle converged on the pole, the song was over. Then we unwound and it was repeated with another group.
Maybe I should do something similar with my class.

The U.S. worker day is Labor Day, the first Monday in September, which is also the unofficial end of the summer mindset.
