Now, we have also decided to give you a further peek at what Maxwell Render 1.5 will bring you. Please note: THIS IS NOT A FINAL FEATURES LIST. A final, full features list will come with the release of 1.5.
Does that mean, that there will be no feature list between THIS feature list and the FINAL feature list?
I think it means exactly what you have writen. Considering that it's only 3 weeks till mid-may. Let's see if they meet the deadline this time;) Anybody keeps the count of the time NL missed the deadline?

Actually I'd be very curious to see what your turn around times are going to be for animations considering the fact that memory usage has been made more efficient and images are clearing up faster...

Now, the only real bummer is that we have to wait some more to get our hands on that new baby! Man, I can't wait to see how fast I will be able to render with those Macpros all working on one picture!

Thanks again NL! You made my day!!!!!!!

:D

really good news? I'm still missing some comments about other plugins, especially Cinemaxwell.

Thanks NL. Great news!

I am interpreting your licensing scheme as: (1 beta) initial License and (1 Plusone) license = 8 single core machines or 8 multiple core (regardless of # of cores) machines. Is this correct?

I am glad I did not purchase my renderfarm machines until this announcement. I was about to purchase 8 single core barebones boxes, but now it sounds like I should buy 8 barebones boxes with as many cores on each machine as possible.

I would think with the better memory handling and hopefully some kind of speed increase that animations will become less expensive. Actually exterior animations are pretty fast (less than 1 hour per frame) interiors is where it really slows down (up to 7 hours per frame).

I'm hoping there will be an upgrade path from V1 to V2 and even if there is I won't be carrying all 248 licenses over.

Yup that would be correct, it's per machine now, not per cores or sockets.

So with the stand alone licenses is it possible to utilize all of the machines you have a license for on a single rendering? Or do you need the render node licenses for that?
