This just started off as simple coating tests and then it got silly.

Using a single layer BSDF with Ref(0) and Transmittance set to 255 and Ref(90) set to 0 [roughness obviously at 0]

I just plugged in different coating thicknesses starting off at 20 nm (the lowest it will go) and did successive renders by adding 10 to the coating thickness each time.
It turns out that 10 is a good number between major color changes.

All of this means ......... nothing. :) ...just a little interesting. I'm sure there are those who know this, ..... I didn't.

I did a few renders with some of the thickness settings that I liked and got silly by adding the viewport wireframe as a background. ...that is all.

i don't care what it is, or what it's for. it's beautiful!

especially love the screenshot/wireframe background, it adds another layer of representational depth... there's this obviously artificial background with (what looks like) real objects (metallic apples), and then there's the monitors that we're all viewing this on...

like, woah dude!
hot!!

Um.. Transmittance set to 255? Fully transparent? :D

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest it was R(0) at 255, R(90) at 0, and Transmittance at (0).

Really liking those 'depressed' ball bearings..........very seductive object you've got going there. :)
