Hi!

I'm looking for some imput when it comes to hardware and Maxwell.

I'm getting a workstation and a render farm

For the workstation I'm looking into one of the following setups:

2 x Dual-Core AMD Opteron processor 2220 2.80 GHz with 1 GHz HyperTransport
Technology 1 MB L2 cache

2 x Quad-Core Intel® Xeon® processor 5355 2.66 GHz 8 MB L2 cache 1333 MHz
quad-core

2 x Intel® CoreTM 2 Extreme QX6700 med QuadCore (2,66 GHz, 1066 FSB, 8 MB
L2-cache)

For the Renderfarm I'll probably go for a few Supermicro 1U blade servers with intel Core 2 Duo Cpu's.

How does maxwell handle multi core's Cpu's?

In the future I'm hoping to be able to set up my renderfarm with Maxwell (today it dosnt work good right?)

i'm on dual dualcore opteron, and it run fine with maxwell, the only problem is that one station with 4 core use all the maxwell licence, that means that you'll have to acquireone licence/4cores

anyway, concerning the station, for what ive seen around, and if you've got the cash, i'd bet more on a dual xeon 5355 as it seems to have a boost of around 20-30% rendering power over a 2220 opteron but it 'll need two licence

in terms of rendering power the fastest seems to be the xeon 5355 followed by the opteron and then the quad Qx6700 so do your math concidering maxwell licencing scheme

As I wrote the renderfarm will probably contain 10 blade servers with IntelCore2Duo processors.

Not as well as it should, unfortunately. Hopefully, the issues will be addressed in 1.2 when it's released.
