sandy, check this out. it gets much higher than 300 given a small scene, or nothing but sky dome.

It's normal, the benchmark changes depending on scene complexity.

val_z's score of opteron 265 is somewhat strange.

The result is faster than opteron 285 but benchmark score is lower than it.

I just standardized the capacity of memory because there is not so much difference between 8g and 4g or 3g.

And I don't know what kind of memory and M/B used in these system, so I just choiced something in the list of buy.com

I know it is not the basis of choice when you build your system.

But I think it will be useful to someone.

I must have missed your Bang-for-the-buck comparison chart Sandy.... That's some pretty eye-opening data. It's pretty clear that the QX 6700 (regardless if you overclock it or not), is the best value.
