Thanks guys! I'm in the process of re-doing the broken plaster in smaller chunks. In the meanwhile - here's a preliminary test with some furniture. Still need to spend some time tearing up the fabric on the chair. The chair is from an Evermotion set I got a while back. The radiator is from De Espona.

I need to find a better floor texture - the gaps are a bit too wide on this one.

At least I think I know what I eventually want to do with this now.....

Incredible texturing detail Michael !
Also, the lighting mood is very good. Looking forward to see the finished work.

Thanks Thomas!

Here's another quick render with some more crumbled plaster bits, with some rubble on the footboard.......

Thanks guys for the comments again! I've found that the meshes used for the furniture I have in my library doesn't lend itself well for getting torn. So, I decided I might as well make my own. So Here's a quick and dirty modeling job on a cheepo sofa - all ready to get torn to shreds... :P

Ha! No, nothing quite so drastic - though often I feel like using that on my entire scene....

I just use the less destructive Cloth plugin - same as I used for the wallpaper.....

Haha :) For some reason this is the first time I've seen this thread. Awesome work mate. It's always a nice surprise to what you come up with. And as Tim's said, nice couch :D

Thanks guys!

Here's another quick update with a closeup of a torn cushion. I've also added an additional mildew layer for the upholstery mat.

Well, I think I'm getting ready to put this piece to bed. There's only a couple of things I want to add. First, I think I really need to add a layer of fine dust under the shattered plaster - it's too clean as it is. Secondly, add some cross pieces and maybe some broken glass in the windows to see if I can get some interesting caustics in the scene.

It's really turning out nice...kind of reminds me of the last scene in 'The Conversation'...

There's something that comes to my mind every time I see this images you are working out: what has happened to that room? burned or flooded? It looks like something in between. The dark dirt on the wallpaper looks like smoke from a fire but the paper looks like damaged from humidity.
Besides this, I really like what's coming out.
