it's so easy... I would say much easy than installing windows

first, you don't even need to install it to try it. Just download the bootable cd and you can run linux already without installing it (ubuntu).
Once I was done playing, for a bit

I de-fragmented my hd using windows  that took the longest. then I restarted the pc using the ubuntu bootable cd.

and followed the 6 steps to install it.

In one of those steps I was able to reconfigured my partitions (I made two new partitions)
other steps were like: name, pass, and timezone :D

and that was it.

you can install linux while surfing online

I didn't have anything important on my hd... but what I had it's still there. Windows work.

I didn't had to type any cd-keys to install anything and it comes with "MS-office style" tools :D like word processor etc.

I got a couple of questions:

how do you map a network drive?
would it be okay to run Autocad and photoshop using wine?

welcome to Linux world! :P

Google around a bit, i heard some people got CS2 to work "ok" on Wine, no idea about Autocad though.

For those who haven't got a Photoshop license yet, Pixel might be worth a look. Not stable yet but fast, multi-platform and with a very similar interface.

pixel looks very nice... but I like free things better
when using wine... what do I do?
reinstall the program again? or can I run it from my windows partition?

I couldn't run different themes yesterday in my pc at work, so when I went home I downloaded dreamlinux (the one that looks like a OSx...pretty cool! )

If I can't figure out how to change themes, I'll try to install Kabuntu and try it too... just to get an idea of what is around.
