Hmmm. Juan stated in the Solidworks forum that Studio has been totally rewritten from scratch so anyone thinking about getting this may want to confirm if old mxs files will open in the upcoming version of studio. I know the transition from the Release Canditates to 1.1 older mxs formats would not open. Just dont want anyone to run into any potential issues without checking first.

i've gotten their newsletter today and was happy to hear about it, but after thinking one and a half seconds about it... i had to say: forget them!

they only ship in .mxs format, of course with the materials. but without an .mxs to .obj, dxf or whatever geometry converter that helps using these models also in other apps, it makes no sense to buy them.

and as far as i know dosch, they're good for fast productions, but if You want that "extra" spirit, You have to add a lotta work.

i recently used a pavement texture of one of their texture series. yes, it was repetitive, but hell, they took the photo at plain sunlight with a clear sun direction! what did they think ?

well... let's wait some time.

I ordered a wood texture cd from them, and that will be the last thing I ever get. It looked like they just used a procedural generator like genetica. The quality was very poor.

I think it won't be incorrect if I verify that you will be able to open 1.x scenes correctly. At least, it's what we have so far and I don't expect a step back about it. You can trust 99.5% ;)

I agree with you guys.

We have some cd:s from dosch at our office, and we never use them. The models are so heavy to work with, and hard to modify. And they dont look that good anyway.

Well, I use their cars sometimes, but thats just cuz its the only ones we have. :?

I trashed the only 2 cd's Ive had from them... very bad quality... :( unmanagable files, repetitive textures.. they just don't care... I remember I mail them about it... they replied... "... but... but... all our customers are satisfied.."

I think Dosch Design did a great job.
You can discuss about the quality of their models, as with any other product.
In my oppinion, they are running a great risk by releasing a full collection of objects, knowing that there is a 5 % of possibilities that they will not work in the next Maxwell Version.
That is the only matter that can stop their sellings, but unfortunately it does not deppend on Dosch but on NL.
I decided to not to run such a risk, because NL never told me about their design politics, so there is NO guaranty on anything.
I have invested time and money converting all my collections of stuff and materials for my own use in Maxwell and they are Useless because of this reason.
The only way to correct this deppends on NL exclusively.
They should comunicate their own politics, and if the do not, is because they do not know them.

Never been a big fan of Dosch models. But, technically, if they release cd's for maxwell, one assumes there has been a contact between them and nl so as to garauntee low risks as concerns release compatibility, otherwise makes no business sense...
