I ahve already posted one image in "Maxwell" section of forum, but i guess it deserves being taken to the WIP/Challenges section.
So.
My first attempt to create a "IES"-like light was this:

It is a plain tube with a 0% roughness aluminium preset and 3 cm inner radius, 6 cm length. Inside it there is an 1-poly emitter 0,5*0,5 cm facing upwards. the emitter position insode the tube provides different patterns, in this case the emitter is in the bottom part of the tube.
In my second attempt i decided to go a little further.
I created a hollow cone (same 3 cm inner radius in widest part, same lenght) with the same reflective melat material, and a "lightbulb" a flattened dome about 0.2 cm thick made of pure glass with some faint bump on it.
This time the emitter inside is 0,1*2,0 cm and is facing "down" (to the inner part of the cone).
This is a result of a quick test scene i made up for it.

Any comments and ideas welcome!
Just a close-up render of the second test scene.
Better detail in caustics.
