Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Don't know what means that provisional mode though. :?:
That means displacement is working, but not (memory-) optimized.

As far as i know this is planned for the next beta.

Another interesting feature of fry is the possibility to change the colour
of multilight lights. I assume this will come for Maxwell soon too.

But, as soon as 1.6 is out, you will see. For me, Fry is what I wanted MWL to be. It's too bad.
If you look quickly, you will only see a clone, but believe me, it's not : more flexible, more tech support, more features, and these features are really working. Not a next-limit-way of working .period.
its all true

Well then let's have them!
If fry is so good, I'm surprised these aren't already in circulation to make us all go cry into our beers. :)

The true benchmark is reality. And "settling" for results, performance or features similar to another engine is not enough when you are intent on creating something remarkable.

That's true Fran, and very well put. :)
My point is I'm now tired of the seemingly endless "A is way better than B" stuff and just want someone to nail the proof either way if they can. I don't care who 'wins' but without some direct comparisons this sort of nonsense will never end.

Read the Fry NDA. Beta users can't post images on other Forums. Or disclose direct comparisons with other render engines. The restrictions appear to me to be far more than necessary to protect proprietary software. But maybe that's just me.
If you want to read it, its the second page in the buying process.
I exited out after reading it.
My interpretation is that lot of what was posted on Maxwell's Forum during its beta stage is prohibited during the beta stage of Fry.

Well...if that was all...
[clipped due to potential copyright issues, see NDA point 6 - JD]
...sorry, but you must be joking...

Yep. I thought you'd *get it* if you read it.
I didn't want to just jump out there with my personal, negative reaction to the wording.
So are our friends trasngressing this agreement by posting features or potential features, or explaining descriptive language as applied to a feature?
Which is really none of my concern.
I just wonder why they bother to post here?

When version 1 is released, and there is a demo available, feel free to compare away. At least then, it will be a full release compared to a full release.

As for the disclaimer Larry mentioned, I think it served it's purpose.

Indeed!

I am a Maxwell user from almost the "first hour" and I am a Fry user from almost the "first hour" too! I like them both and competition is good, becauses we all know that not everything went smooth along the "Maxwell-way"!
