Okay, ... here it is. ...took me awhile to put it together, ...but here's the octo-core specs.

_____________________________________________

Processor: Twin Clovertown E5345's [ 2.33Ghz /8MB cache / 1333Mhz FSB] 8 Cores

RAM: 2GB / FB 667Mhz Dimm (single stick)

OS: XP64

Time: 32m 04s

BMark: 202.65

** default clock settings / and there will be no OCing here, ... No options w/this Intel server board. :(

I don't know what to say, ... I thought Maxwell would scale a little better, despite the lower clock speed ..

I've ran the bench twice and it appears these numbers are solid, ..and with that said, ...I think your best bang for the buck (at the moment) is
the single-quad Kensington. ...to grab an extra 4 cores at 2.33Ghz or higher is around a $1000.00 + ........so, ...do the math.

PS> anyone offering some type of optimization, ..I'm all ears. :)

yeah Sandy, ...it's mine and it is somewhat disapointing. It actually doesn't make any sense to me yet.

If you look at the dualcore dual Xeon system in that list, also at 2.33ghz, it's time is 44 minutes. It's too bad you can't overclock them to 3ghz to better compare with the QX6700, maybe you could have gotten around 20min. There are also other factors like the motherboard, memory interface, your system is probably built with stability in mind, not absolute performance.

True Mihai, ....and with that said, ...the whole system posted on first try, ..installed Windows, ..Maxwell, Sisoft etc. and I'm running it through some stressing and it's rock solid, ..no errors and not a single error in the event viewer. So, ..I couldn't be happier with that. :) Historically, ..I've been plagued with problem systems ...

intel core 2 quadro 2.66 GHz @ 3.33 GHz
(4 cores)
4 GB Ram
Time: 31 min 28 sec
Benchmark: 210.16

cinebench: xcpu: 1806

i've had it running at 3.66 GHz, stable with cinebench (xcpu 1961) and stress tests gave back a stable result, but maxwell crashed always. so i'm running it at 3.33 GHz.

Chris - congrats on the new system! Hopefully Maxwell 1.2 will scale better. One thing that may be hurting you is having only a single stick of ram. Having four matched 512 sticks has lower latency than having 1 2gb stick since all eight cores are fighting to use the same stick of ram. Adding another 2gb stick should help.

thanks Greg, .. ;) ...another 2GB stick is on it's way. ...I'll do it again then. :)

Very nice dealdvs .... :)

deadalvs, did you increase the cpu voltage to be able to achieve a stable overclock at 3.33ghz?

Nice system ivox3, too bad Maxwell doesn't scale as expected. :(

yeah, i tried that... but i'm not sure if this is needed. as i think a faster cpu needs a little more voltage... or is that thought wrong ?
could it be a problem ?

No, it's not a problem if you have good cooling. I asked that because when I tried 3.33ghz myself, my pc crashed during the speedtest scene render. Althought it has been perfectly stable with cinebench. Thus I concluded that I had to increase the voltage a bit to be stable at that setting.

What are your settings actually?

Update of the db in the first page ;)

@ deadalvs: congratulation, you are in the first position for now :)
please can you specify your os?

@ ivox3: thanx for the first 8-cores test :)
Please can you try launching the speedtest via command-line with different threads settings like -th:8, -th:16, ecc. ?

cpu voltage: 1.5375
(might that be too hign ?)
enhanced power slope: enabled
front side bus voltage: 1.250

multiplier override: manual
host clock frequency: manual

processor multiplier: 10
host clock frequency: 333

--> 3.33 GHz

system memory speed: set to 667 MHz (it is 1066 MHz ram)
memory voltage: 1.84
