Dual opteron 265 1.8 GHz
Cores: 4
RAM: 4 Gb
OS: XP32
Times: 0:47:43
Benchmark: 104.03

I dont'n know, but it seems to me it's something strange. Benchmark number it is OK, but the render time it got to be higher (like 65 - 70 minutes). I render it several times, but it is all around 47-48 minutes.

Got a new system in the office. Boxx Technologies RenderBoxx with dual Xeon 5150. Kinda surprising that these chips only use 65 watts a piece considering how loud the system is.

CPU: Dual Intel Xeon 5150 (2.66GHz)
Cores: 4
Ram: 4 GB
OS: XP64
Time: 00:39:21
Bench: 168.06

...and more interesting, ... 2 x 53xx's or 8 core? ...the suspense is killing me. :)

It looks interesting.

I heard that Dual 5320 is faster than Dual 5160.
Hello everyone,

Here some results with a QX6700 (slightly overclocked)

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad QX6700 @ 3ghz
Cores: 4
Ram: 2 GB
Nvidia 8800 GTS
OS: XP64
SL 16.00
T 0:32:31
BM 201.00

not bad for a "desktop" processor .

Grats on taking the lead.

Wow that proc is fast. Is the 3ghz the over clocked speed?

Very nice.

* ...without checking Stephen, ..I think the stock speed of the QX6700 is 2.67Ghz. ...currently there is nothing in the 2.93/3.00Ghz stock range .... in the quad core variety, ... that is.

Yep Stephen, 3ghz is the overclocked speed. Pretty easy to reach, without even touching the default voltage settings.
You could even achieve 3.3 or 3.4ghz if you set the processor voltage a little higher than stock and with proper cooling.

Do you think you would see quicker times with 4 gigs of DDR2?
I thought the 64 bit OS would utilize more than 2 gigs if you had it available.

Not for a small scene like this. Having more RAM than is used by a given scene doesn't affect speed at all, as it's just sitting there unused.

I'd like to know too :) Impressive rendertimes even with a moderate overclock.
