When ever should I buy my new machine?

I had plan to buy my new comp at the end of this year.

but I heard that Intel's quad core (QX6600) will be released at jan 2007.

but now, at the second half of next year, they say new quad core(real quac core) proccessor comes out.

They always changed motherboard type and memory type.

I don't know when can I buy my monster. :?

Maybe.......

next or next of next year???? or at the age of sir Herlix ? :)

Well, I took out the post before you responded :P
(didn't think you would be interested, since you mentioned Penryn. )

Damn looks like AMD is falling behind, and once they miss out on profits for a whole generation they may well be out of the race.

All three processors are built in 90 nm, use AMD's 2 GHz Hypertransport bus, integrate 2 x 1 MB L2 cache and are rated at a maximum power consumption of 125 watts - or 250 watts for a 2-processor package.
What the hell....

I'm very happy about those news Jeong-Ho. I hope they get into production fast while it's still hot - as i said i imagine they could miss the train and fail to exploit their architecture advantage while it lasts. We badly need competition.

intel offers much better price -performance at the moment.
my quad 2.66 woodcrest blows away my quad opteron 275, and it was much cheaper.

the new quad xeons are even more worth its price. i 2month i will update to an 8xxeon- amd still has nothing similar to offer...they really need to get something out good, otherwise they are way behind(aqnd i always loved amd and hated p4s)

bad for amd, good for intel and apple....
just give ma a good c4d-MW plugin and i will fly away on my 8core machine:-)))

You comparing old AMD cpu with new intel one. I think it's a lil bit unfair.

well the fastest amd is not faster than a 285 i think. the new one only have new numbers, but are not faster( a bit slower even).
the 4x275 was the second fastest amd, as is my 4x2.66 intel...

so i find this very fair. it is the thing i could buy today, both have one step better, but then the speed difference is the same again.

cheers

You comparing "fastest with fastest" while i'm talking about "old and new CPUs".
It's the same as comparing Core2duo with Pentium4 "D" series.

Will see how fast K8L will be.
