For some reason the plugins were not included in the install, as stated by the magazine.

You need to download the RF4 demo from the www.nextlimit/realflow site. You can then download the plugins, without downloading the demo.

Note to Next Limit: the audio from the [Real Wave Scene Setup] is the same as the audio from [Fluid Scene].

... thought I'd mention that.

I thought here would be as good as anywhere. :)

Is the 3D world Realflow SE a demo or a cutdown/older version of Realflow?

I ask because whilst curious about Realflow it's beyond my budget for interesting playthings.

- It would be good to pick up an older version - cheaply!

The version on the 3DWorld mag is apparently restricted to 50,000 particles.

In reality you can't solve past 200 frames, although you can have in excess of 50,000 particles.

In my test running last night, I ran two emitters for 200 frames, each knocked out 46,500 particles which is well above 50K.

Unless a single emitter is restricted to 50K particles, I can't see that this is the restriction. In all the online RF3 video demos, max particles are always set to 50K.

Only restriction I can find, is the 200 frame limit. Even with specifying more in all the correct places, I couldn't go past 200.

If you need them, kurv studios seem to have the best RF video demos.

I have the plugins now and the connection between Maya and RealFlow is fantastic. A really briliant way to import the animated mesh into Maya. Great. I love it.

Tim, two nights ago, I solved a simulation of over 500 frames. My goal was 1000 frames, but I think I ran out of memory... So, where did you get this 200 frames limit from? I dont have it...

*EDIT*
Tried to simulate a 1000 frames animation over the night and it was succeded witout any problems. Altough when I tried to play the sequence from RealFlow it stopped at 200. But it really dowsnt mather since it exported all 1000 frames, so now I can watch it and render it from Maya, with much faster FPS. Real great. Love it.

I'm glad it does work then, but annoyed my version won't run past 200.

Unless it did as you say and only displays 200......... hhmmm will check my export folder and see the highest file number.

Did you reach the particle limit inside your 1000 frame anim?

Cheers for the info,

Tim.

Also quite interested in how this pans out. I should be buying the mag at the weekend, and have been wanting to try this for a LONG time.

So what you're saying SunlightRocker, is that the limit with the software is that you can only SEE up to frame 200 in RealFlow, but it'll export scenes past 200, which can then be imported into another program?

Coz that...that would be....well...great! :D

Nice test man, keep em coming

So it's 50K per emitter which gives a lot more possibilities, assuming there's enough computer power to solve the sims.

Great test mate. Is this rendered with Maxwell as well?

Sorry if this is a stupid question (the answer seems kinda obvious) but...the emitters can all interact with each other, right? As in, the particles will affect each other and combine?

Cheers,
Dr Merman
