I agree. I'm having great fun and results with homemade HDRI's. And discovering not all softs are equal when making them.

Thank you guys for your nice comment.
Before to continue this post, i would like to be more explicit. When i said HDR, i make a mistake, actually, i should have say LDR.
I would love to make real HDR but my lack of equipment don't allow me to do so. But anyway, using LDR as lighting work really great. More examples will come later. And if i 'm in good mood, :D , may be i will be enough kind to give you all the mxi file.

Hi hyltom,

may i ask you what size of HDR maps you actually used in the above renders? And did you compare different sizes of your HDR maps and how the result in different noise levels?

The size i used is 4000x2000. I haven't try yet with a different size, but i will do it to compare and give you the result later.

Just for fun...i spend less than 5min for the material and there is a lot of mistake, i know. I will do better next time.

Very nice tests Hyltom, this will be very usefull!

The earblub (? :D)'s mat is nice, it seems to have a nice red transmitance/emitter and the rubbery mat of the player is nice too!

nice indeed, how about for some soft lights ?

Try putting a gaussian blur on for a soft box effect.
For my things 4000x2000 is a very good size re speed and noise reduction.
Making an MXI is also helpful.
