NL have stated the Maxwell material editor will have the ability to make procedural shaders so that's what we'll use I guess to make procedural dirt shaders.

C4d users know the dirty nuts ( plugin for dirt)... it is very easy to use with great results...


big advise to NL to try it. at the current c4d r9 durt is as standard effect now.

You get basically the same effect with an ambient occlusion shader set at low sampling.

I'm gonna bump my very old thread and this time with some images i rendered with the closest competition to Maxwell.

These are just some examples of what a AO blendlayer based 'dirtshader' is capable of when implemented into a renderengine similar to Maxwell.
It's so simple yet it boosts the realism of a model by so much more. Links to highres versions can be found below each lowres image.
