Really nice camera matching and modeling! I think the brightness on the monitor cases need to be lowered to better match the photo, but just some little tweaks and you'll have a great match!

I usually say that success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.

A point you seem to prove very well here!!

(The chair towards the camera still is too reflective and maybe the other chair too, they look more plastic than cloth)

Victor, thank you very much. :D

Fernando and dd, I'm uploading a version to video.google, not sure what's going on with the youtube one. :? http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 6&hl=en-GB

jespi, thank you.

Mihai, thank you for the suggestion, I've reworked the screen materials again. Removed the reflectance map, leaving screen image to the mxi, so that the bsdf layers will mimic the glass. (That's my theory anyway.)

JesperW, thank you. Have again tweaked the front chair material, but will work on the dark blue one more. I'm not 100% with the material system yet, could do with one of those bsdf readers really. ;)

Update:-
Computer and underdesk wires modeled.
USB strap modeled.
Silver lights reworked for correct materials and reflections.
Screen UV mapping and materials fixed.
Curtain reworked to reduce uniformity.
Carpet stains added. (Not visible in this render.)

20mins quick render, hence the noise. (This is pre-multilight so screens look too bright.)

Door texture and kick plate are wrong in the above, but have now been fixed.

Yesterday's multilight demo at google, for those having youtube problems. http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 6&hl=en-GB

6 days to go.

Tim, I actually meant the monitor casings, not the screens :) The cases look a bit too bright compared to the photo. Also the big monitor on the right had a pretty large blown out area in the render, in the photo the casing looks to be a little greyer.

Adrian and Herve, thank you.

Mihai, ok but in the meantime I've sorted the screens I think. ;) I do still need to tweak the casings though, you are quite right. Cheers for the tip.

Hyperballad, I hope this new one is better. ;)

New update, the completed multilight render of the yesterday's render:-

Maxwell hidden line overlay after today's object alignment:-

New multilight animation:- http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 0303755765

Current scene stats:-
Geometry:
Num Meshes: 359
Num Triangles: 1878120
Num Vertexes: 965073
Num Normals: 678466
Bitmaps:
Num Bitmaps: 34

Hopefully I've lined everything up, although the bottom right corner will need a tweak. Another new version with more tweaked materials is rendering now, so I'll post that tonight.

C&C would be great for the multilight animation. I think this might be the start of my final emixer file.
Are the strip lights convincing in the way they turn on?
Do the two flash frames simulate a camera or do they look wrong?

Any comments, critisms and suggestions, will be greatly appreciated and valued.

Many thanks,

Tim.

Amazing work...

There is only one thing that i find strange, it's the black material you applied to the chair, it looks too dark. Except that, nobody can guess that's a CG work. Maybe the scene is not very attractive but the quality put on it, make it one of the best scene rendered with maxwell.

Thankyou hyltom.

I'm sat on that exact same chair now and it's definitley black, but has a high specular level and quite high reflectivity. I'll try increasing the specular and/or reflective level. I've got the bump value set about right, but this might be contributing, so I'll double check it.

Cheers,

Tim.

Awesome multilight animation! I wonder what people who see that and know nothing about Maxwell will think.

One small thing, When the first three screens turn on, shouldn't they cast a bit more light on the surrounding?

Enjoy your iPod- they ought to spring for the 8GB version, you've more than earned it. :) The CRTs to me are still missing a little something- I think it's the sort of grey internal coating effect they give off when you hit them with a flash. That's so minor though. Also the dark blue chair needs just a bit more shape in the backrest. Apart from that it's just minor, minor differences that you only see switching quickly between the two. Great work.
