My firm wants to purchase a large monitor for the board room to display cad files. What is the biggest monitor you can get with the highest resolution. I'm looking for large size but has to have large resolution to match.

I know dell makes a 30" with a 2560x1600 pixel max resolution! Is that about as big as they get? Can you actually run it at that resolution? Need some advice. Thanks.

Why not spend that money on a good projector instead, and then you can use the projector for other stuff aswell such as movienights and similar

I was thinking the same as max.

If you want you can point it to the table from top to bottom hanging it from the ceiling. The problem is that you have to low down the lights a bit but would be cool to make sketches based on the projected image...

A big screen would be cool too. Like the one they have in the movie Aliens when they are looking at the plans of the colony searching for the settlers. i think it was tactile...

Peter, ... if they just want to use it to illustrate cad files, ... they don't have to just stay with monitors per se. They could just as easily use an HDTV LCD to display whatever. For example, ..the Sanyo PLV-60 has a native resolution of 1366 x 768, ...any modern graphic card can could fill that out nicely. You could sit comfortably anywhere in the room and still have good visibility.

Personally, ... I used to use an Ultra 30" HDTV LCD as a monitor to model w/rhino. Absolutely razor sharp image with a more than fast enough refresh rate. The reason I said I used to use one, ..is because the damn thing has been in the shop for awhile ... Something wrong with the screen (maybe I bought a cheap one... )

So, ... don't limit the search to just pc monitors ... think LCD TV, ..especially since most units have a DVI-input, ...although VGA works just as fine.

And finally, ... their damn cheap nowadays.

PS. ..I'm surprised more CG folks aren't taking advantage of this ... ultimately, ..I would like to have dual 30's or maybe maybe ... even 42's.
