Mmmm. Single malt.

I love Highland Park, but for me, Lagavulin wins. When someone else is buying, I won't turn down Macallan 18 though.

Also find of fine tequila (Asombroso, Patron).

Or excellent rum (Appleton's 25 year old is lovely).

Premium absinthes are nice too; like Un Emile.

I have lots of vodkas largely because it's a good medium for mixer flavors.

I'm also fond of sake -- Rihaku's Wandering Poet being my favorite.

Good bourbon is also never amiss. My most recent being Old Rip Van Winkle.

With gin, I'm very fond of Hendricks and Magellan, but for martinis I usually use Bombay sapphire and a good vermouth, because I am a snob.

I have a hard time getting into beer 'cause it's just less appealing to me, and wine is such a vast subject that I have no hope of getting an equivilent collection (I've got at least 2-3 representatives of nearly any type of spirit).

stunning !

certainly no more need to put it into that solution that keeps it from rotting... :)

Did you read the story about the guys that were exporting clear Scotch and were forced to stop? This article said all Scotch is dyed, and the distillers association (or some such body) forced them to cease making it without the dye.
I stick to vodka/soda on the rocks for medicinal purposes.

Who's going to be the first to add a single malt to the mxm gallery? :)
 Interesting read!
I spoke to a guy I know at the distillery today, apparently at 'the park' they don't dye, or at least not to his knowledge.......but it's still regular practice where pure malts are blended together [for say, Grouse for instance].
Clear [uncasked] whisky would be, well, pretty darn hot on the throat I imagine!
Fancu a tipple myself now, but it's way too early in the day........instead I'll see if I can find some complex ior data

1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
Blade of mace

Gonna go puke now...

Coal Ila:

Nice, I have a bottle of Ardbeg I need to finish as well, but I prefer Coal Ila, it's a bit softer.
Next bottle, hmm, who knows, probably something completely different again.

This one is beta-caroten dyed. Not sure if it's orthodox, but I could not find caramel data to make ior file.

Cool, cause I still don't get the whole liquid in glass thing (let alone the ice in liquid in glass thing)
Btw, people that always put ice in whisky, try it without.. the taste is much stronger and less flat. Just at a few drops of clear water to soften the alcohol punch a bit.

Yeah, I don't want to promote ice in whiskey, but it would make for a more interesting challenge........ it was a moral dilemma :)

can't beat Talisker for an all round fantastic taste for a well priced single malt. Best pick of the low range singles.
I believe this what where johnny walker base their blends on BTW ( phooey to blended whiskey!)

That's a fantastic looking container isn't it? Might have to look into Oban for my next bottle.
For those who want something different, I can also recommend Littlemill, a lowlands whisky. It has a nice sweet taste, somewhat like marshmallows. It's very faint, still a proper whisky, but a bit unusual.

edit: a taste for Maxwell seems to go hand in hand with a taste for whisky, quite a surprise :)
