is there any draw back to just setting your render time to say 100 hours to start with so you cover yourself. The only thing I can think of is if there is some kind of batch rendering needed but I don't know if maxwell handels that yet anyway.

There is no drawback to that, except for the fact that when you use the time limit for animation frames and you discover that it should be 20 minutes per frame in stead of 15, you can start over again in stead of adjusting the time limit per frame.

Furthermore I find it pleasant to instantly see the progression between 0 and 24 hours of rendering, in stead of seeing a meter that is on 30 percent after 18 hours of rendering, because you've entered a lot of minutes.

I think it'd be great if you could simply extend the render time in the Maxwell render interface, if it turns out to be necessary. If you can easily change the shutterspeed on the fly, why wouldn't you be able to add some render hours?
