Hi!

I'm wondering if there's a way from 3dsmax plugin to hide objects from camera while avoiding it from casting shadows plus being seen in reflections. I just want to see that object in reflections.

I know you can hide it from camera at the object properties panel but it keeps casting shadows.

Any ideas?

fernando,

I don't think this is possible! The only way to achieve this is with an invisible object like with invisible emitters, but your object will be invisible in the refection also.
You will have to render two passes, one with the object and one without, and then create a channel of your reflective objects and use that with your favorite compositiong program to create your illusion.

Sounds tricky. It's not an overall solution, but depending on your problem you can maybe work with a MXI texture in the Reflection channel only?

Make an image of what you want reflected, load it in mxcl, save as mxi and then activate only reflection in the MXI/HDRI environment.
(Note it has to be spherically mapped...)
