Should be pretty easy:

1) Slipstream xp 64 install disk
2) Install on a non-stock 2nd hard disk (?) (ms-dos format (NTFS), mbr partitioning) by booting directly into the xp install disk. Apple bootcamp is not necessary
3) Manual install of 64 bit drivers
4) For booting into windows, 'Option-Command-Shift-Delete' will find the xp external drive boot

What remains unclear to me is if step 2 is absolutely necessary - apparently the GPT partitioning on the stock drive is incompatible with xp 64? (MBR)? Meaning that xp 64 *must* be installed on a secondary disk? (NTFS formatted with MBR partitioning)

Anyone tried this? Can you verify?!? Thanks :)

It's easier than that. Fire it up and load all the latest Mac updates. Shut down, remove the hard drive, insert a new clean one in bay 2. Load the XP64 install CD, reboot, and run setup. Put the OS X hard drive back in slot 1. Done. Hold down the Option key during reboot to select which OS to boot into. No slipstreaming, no Boot Camp.

I just did it this morning, everything worked a lot easier than I was expecting. I manually installed 64 bit drivers for the Video card, network card, and sound, but all that stuff seemed to be working fine even before that. The hard drives are running at 60MB/sec with no action by me.

Well, for the keyboard, you can do a quick remap to fix up any keys that arent working. For the eject key, you can install and run the AppleCDEject 32 bit version which you can take from the 32 bit apple xp drivers install cd which bootcamp prompts you to make and run it in xp 64, it works fine. Don't really use the mighty mouse under win but it seems to be working well, scroll, right click....

thx aitraaz... I am going to try it later today. I've got some problem with the mighty mouse scroll wheel, but I must admit I didn't mess around too much inside windows, I suddenly felt in love with osx and exposè... cheers..
