Hi, I´m looking to buy a new lcd/tft monitor and have my mind set on a
dell 2407wfp Wide-Screen model. I was wondering is anyone of you is using it,
I would like to hear how are you satisfied?
but I´m open to suggestions about simmilar type of monitor.
I do primarily 3d, but very often some graphics for print so colors are very important

please give your opinions and advices, I´m totaly lost in the sea of monitors
and have no experience with lcd/tft. used to old crt_s

I am in a similar situation. I do a lot of food product presentaion images. I do the 3D work on a PC and take the image over to a Mac for color correction and output for print.

I was using a LaCie 22 III and switching it back and forth between machines but it's 5 years old and just quit an me in the middle of a large project last month. I bought a 23" Mac HD monitor the same day. I would have gotten the same Dell you are thinking about but needed one immediately.

The Dell monitors are great, lots of bells and whistles as far as hook up goes and the resolution and color is very good. I believe my son has the model you are thinking about getting and he loves it. He runs both a PC and Mac through it. If you do color correction for print by the numbers it really doesn't matter if the monitor is calibratable or not...if however, you color correct visually that's a different story. I wouldn't trust any monitor at all and go strictly by the numbers. I am going to pickup a second LCD for the Mac...probably a 19" Samsung they are going for about $300.

RonB can you tell me how is the contrast of the dell your son is using.Or generally how important is the contrast ratio ex. 1000:1
browsing the net i foun comments that the contrast is too strong and cant be adjusted

Yep, that seems to be the case here...the only 3dLabs driver that works at full-res on my Dell 24" is the one for the Samsung 24"...

I have a dual monitor setup- 1 HP and one Samsung and the samsung has a much better Color Gamut. The picture quality on the HP is great but it is impossible to calibrate for color.

I read somewhere that Dell and Apple both buy their screens from Philips, and are the best choice.

We have a lot of 24" Samsungs here in the office and the only complaint is that the stands are weak and starting to sag forward.

Well, the reviews look good, and your recommendation weighed heavily.
So I just ordered one for $219 USD.
I was just before buying some other Samsung monitor.
