hi all: purchased the whole arroway collection!
Now i am having issues with scales of the mxm..
i am basically using the arroway images as is, no rescaling, only converting them to jpg ( for use in other stuff)
problem is there seems to be scale prob with either the B and S, or the D image... because D seems way bigger on screen in reflectance slot...? anyone has a clue???
Heeelp :)
a picture is worth a thousand words:

more generally: how do u guys convert and resize the arroway original png for using them...? photoshop script? what size is ok? I have just received the lastest WOOD dvd from arroway, and they provide ( thank god) a smaller scale version of each texture that saves loads of time!!

thnx
Nils

I guess you have to convert both bump and specular maps from greyscale to rgb.

That's just the way the texture shows the texture the first time you load it, it shows it full rez. If you close the texture picker and re open it, it will then show a smaller version, where the whole texture is shown. The preview might be due to how the sphere is uv mapped. Have you tried rendering an object and seeing if everything is correct?

Yes, Rivoli is right. It's a problem of greyscale maps. Just change the bump mapand specular images to rgb.

I'm having trouble with an Arroway texture so I thought I'd nudge this old thread.

I bought Arroway Vol. 1 (the complete version of the few Arroway textures we got) and so far I've been converting them to JPG and using them at half-size. I got to the 5th wood (not supplied with Maxwell) and at half size when I go to load the diffuse map MXED dissapears. Totally crashes.

The map itself is only 5megs and a different arroway texture map I used successfully is 8megs, so I'm guessing it's not a file size issue.

Can it be a pixel size issue? The map is currently 6900x1200 pixels and it doesn't work. I experimented with taking it down to 5888x1024, roughly the same height as the ones supplied by Next Limit and it still crashes MXED. So I got fustrated and tried 3450x600 and it loads just fine.

Does MXED have a max resolution that it will accept?

i can second the problems with the greyscale maps too.

just finished the whole set of wood flooring materials in half res and it works flawlessly if all textures are rgb maps.

didn´t get any crashes after resizing all the maps to half res.

cheers
