It's similar to dual opteron 270's.

hey, glassbathroom. I'm curious to know your benchmark. :D
My new Mac Pro is not arriving for 2-4 weeks, so you will have to wait I am afraid.

glassbathroom,

I was goiing to get the new mac as well and use Bootcamp for running Solidworks & Rhino. The problem is that the only video card from Apple that would be fully compatable with Solidworks is that $1600 nVidia ! :shock: That puts the Mac in the $4700 area for me. Where I can spec the Dell with a much cheaper card that is Solidworks tested for almost nothing and the system comes in at about $3500. True fact though, is that the Mac is actually cheaper than the equivelant Dell.

SO, I am going to upgrade my PC first. I am jealous though (I am mac guy), but we can both post our new tests since the chip will be the same and see what happens.

Ran the test on my new computer using V1.1 :( bit disappointed in result compared to other times posted...must be doing something wrong. I am running windows xp pro, so I guess the extra 2g ram is wasted?

cpu=Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6600 2.4
cores= 2
ram= 4 GB Kingston 667Mhz
time= 3h48m
Bench= 18.79

With version 1.1
I stopped to compute after 10minutes, when I saw that my benhmark was climbing pitifully at 14 or 15 with a Dell precision m90 ti2600 duo core , 2 gig ram

My new Mac Pro can beat adamwades results (just). :wink:

Dual Processor Apple Mac Pro (4 cores)
Xeon 2.66 GHz
2GB RAM
Windows XP Pro in Boot Camp

Benchmark= 91.31
Time= 46 minutes 58 seconds

It is terribly slow in OSX. Hopefully it will be just as fast when the Universal version comes out for OSX Intels.

I am going to add another 2GB of RAM soon, I will post again any improvements.

I am sure those with a 3.0 GHz Xeons will beat this soon.

Glassbathroom,

I take my hat off..... since I love Macs :D I don't mind a bit.

It is good to see that the results are basically the same with our chips being the same. Like you said though, that was with bootcamp - not OSX. Maybe that will make it faster some day?
