Well, despite what you say, IMO the guy went much too far a couple of
times, so in the end his missing respect for the creatures that he treated
like amusement park sensations backfired on him.

He certainly used his influence to awe people and to support quite a couple
of environment projects, however the missing respect he's shown on
numerous occasions to leave creatures on their own is a quite bad example
on how to behave in the wild.

Too sad for his family, but certainly a reminder that man is just a guest
down there and should behave like one.

Yes, I noticed it too ... although he tried, he didn't seem to have this sixth-sense, empathic, innate connection / grasp of nature and wasn't always fully aware, anticipative (respectful, perceptive of subtleties and intentions) of the dangers involved ... Also, in one occasion earlier he was actually bitten by a snake. He had to run back to his tent. Open up a picture book and search to see if it was poisonous or not ...

It is still a loss, and his work is most certainly appreciated !

I think he didn't do it out of disrespect, but perhaps he wanted to attract a different audience to animal programs, because many people especially younger tend to think it's boring to watch. So I think it was a strategy to reach also this audience, to sensitize them toward the animal world, wonders of nature etc...

But yes, it looked like he was careless many times, and perhaps some times he really was

Sad that anyone dies, but this guy took so many incredibly foolish risks, it was bound to happen sooner or later.

Not to sound callous, but I'm surprised he lasted this long.

Definitely! Yeah he took a lot of risks but he made it fun to watch.

Yes it's very sad.

Also, his television career only started in 1991 I think they said, and he worked as an animal activist and wildlife relocator for many many years before that. Ever since he was a kid really because his dad was exactly the same.

Maybe his wife will carry on and then pass it onto the children.
