It works fine in 5.1 here.

When I installed the addon in the first time, the material>mxm property is missing ,the Maxwell Render 1 is ok. To make mxm property working,I copy the mxm.dll from c:\\users\Softimage\XSI_5.1\Addons\MaxwellXSI\Application\Plugins\mxm to ......Application\plugin,where the MaxwllRender1.dll is (and works fine).

This addon export models to mxs very well so far,but
every object will has its own material in Maxwell studio even for objects that you assign the same mxm in XSI.

and these two properties will not be saved with the scene.....if you want to re-export,you have to do it all again.(or is there someboy could tell me how to apply material setting from an old mxs to a new one in Mxstudio? )

Matt,

Thanks for your tip but I'm really missing something here, I still can't get it to work.

I've installed , uninstalled, reinstalled the plugin and still I get nothing, not even the MaxwellRender1 option. My install of Softimage 5.11 is on my drive D:\ which may be causing the problems or is could be the double backslash issue - how do I specify a double back slash?

All I'm doing is pointing to the addon file from within the XSI InstallAddon option, it seems to install fine (no errors) the two dll files are in the right place D:\users\... and I've used your tip of copying the mxm.dll into the previous directory - still no dice! The only change is, now I get a red triangular error on mxm.dll as well in the plugin manager (see screenshot posted previously).

Any ideas? Is it drive D:\? Is it XSI 5.11? Is it the double backslash? Please help! An idiots guide would be nice! I've never had a problem installing an addon or a plugin before (I've even written a shader) but this has really got me stumped and I'm desperate to get it working.

Thanks...

I think the red triangular sign in plug-in manager indicates something wrong, and probably xsi can't find the right dll.

You can select the item with red triangular sign, click "load" button
in plug-in manager and find the right dll for it.

hopes this wll help.

Matt,

thanks for your help. I already tried that but the red triangles remain and if I double click on them it says "Library not found".

Could it be the double backslash issue? Without specifying a path i.e. just browsing through windows explorer to point to the dll's how do I insert a double backslash? Do I need to edit the Softimage setenv.bat to include a double backslash? (would this screw up everything else?)

Cheers,
