Please post here anything else (not relating to Maxwell technical matters)

Did the maths for these unbiased engines come out of Madrid University? Do they have Spanish Gov. funding like Next Limit?

Curious.

Well i hope this puts pressure on NL to improve Maxwell even further. They could start with the promised Linux client, nobody wants to pay 20 grand to equip his farm with windows licenses (from which NL won't see a dime) - being targeted at the professional market there are lot of Maxwell users with huge renderfarms.

i think taht competiton is good, I do wondered if even if they are not related job wise maybe they went to the same school or something like that. I still think that Next Limit has many feature they have not shown, I remember when the free indigo render cam out I thoght that Maxwell had some problems, but then they came out with mulltilight and other stuff, so i hope that this new render pushes them to faster times or some nice improvements on our next version

Talking of other renderers has anyone checked out busyray? www.busyray.com It has potential, really easy to use, uses standard Max materials and lights etc and is $49. I got a lic the other day just out of curiosity and must confess I am impressed. It is very early stage and is missing some important stuff.

Over on the vray forum they are talking about fryrender and doing a comparison between fryrender and vray( I am not a fanboy for Vray or Maxwell, I use which ever renderer suits me at the time so no slagging matches please) and they rendered the studyhall from osmosis, so I thought I would give it a blast in Busyray. This is what I got after 40mins at 1280x768. I do not have time to set up materials etc for everything to test it against Maxwell but maybe someone has already rendered it?

Ha-ha! Read and cry, maxwellians!
Interesting.
He chose Maxwell beta, to ensure the dielectric (windows) has as much noise as possible. While leaving the fryRender with a "ghost" material (which is a copy of Maxwell 1.0 in the first place).

It is lighting conditions and behaviour that's to be compared. But sun is coming from different directions. It's hard for me to compare under these circumstances. What do I do wrong here?

Btw: I registered on that forum a few minutes ago and asked that question. Let's see... maybe someone could enlighten me...

Mesut.

P.S.: I mean besides the first three pics, of course.

Just don't say maxwell can handle 2300000 polys in 8 minutes and bake a render with the same quality. I don't believe this, but I'll make my own test with 1.1.
But I think 8 mins will take voxelization only

Why should he compare Fryrender beta to Maxwell V1? I can see why he used Vray 1.5 -it is the first public release to have the physical sun/sky capability.
