Just saw "Fountainhead" a movie about Howard Roark, an architect kicked out of school for non conformist ideas and refusing to "give in" to accepted tastes. It's very melodramatic and the actors spit out the lines like a conveyor belt, but it made me laugh thinking of all the architects on this forum and the things they go through with their clients.

If any architects or students haven't seen it I suggest taking a look, will boost your morale!

very decent hint by Mr JD..
that was the first 500pages+ english book i managed to finish.. back in the hate-ies.. feeding gross illusions regarding my later profession.
contemporary architects may find an unintended comical touch.. or just get sentimental..
and who was the role model?

Hmmm…. A movie that has an inspirational architectural role model…. with unintended comic overtones…. and the feeling of pure visual poetry… that’s a tough one….. you could always try Peter Greenaway’s “The Belly of an Architect”

Well, I read the book years ago, and if you know a bit about Lloyd Wright the guy in the book does feel a bit like him. Although I do not remember the book well enough, but I think the major difference is that Wright could be a pretty drastic person as far as I know, which the person in the book isn´t. At least not as Wright was......

That movie was really, really bad. Even if you didn't read the book, it's awful. My 2 pennies.
