In a few months or years we will got many unbiased renderer. For me are most interesting engines for both usages - biased and unbiased. Also very important for me is a good support and a good workflow.

Flatrender? ... Is it just me or the whole deal with Fryrender is just on the copy cat hype?.. Their gallery is as dull as a cup of mud.

Although they might claim based on real phisics... the result is very CG.

No caustics, no bump, not much to impress...

Check bad Anti-aliasing, and the shadows are quite hard. the floor s flat.. and the whole thing seems very CG... yep we've got spoiled with Maxwell's beautiful renders :o

Who cares man, as long as it ups the competition then we the customers are the ones to gain from this situation.

- 10-computer floating license with no CPU limit as a single network hardware dongle

I wonder if they are being nice, or their product is gonna be 10x slower than maxwell

It's along the same lines as Vray's DR thing.

As for the gallery image, I think they don't have very many people using the software yet.

In their defense, the interface looks nothing like maxwell. It actually looks nicer. Looks like maybe more features than maxwell too. Of course, do they actually work, or is it just for show?

Plus, I like their bunny rabbit model :D

I agree their interface is quite nice.... Anyway... competition is always welcome... it opens new perspectives for the whole community as a whole. And it only means that it will give more incentives to the improvement of maxwell.

On a funny note... someone quoted my harsh comments at vizdepot... it seems that everyone is raising the same questions about this render. :o
http://www.vizdepot.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5062

Here is a quote from their manual...

"Most of the times it is wise to stop the
render when the level of noise is fine
although noticeable and then use a high
quality noise-reduction filter such as:
http://www.neatimage.com
http://www.picturecode.com "

They acually recomend using a Nois-reducer! That may explain why the renders on their gallery seems very flat and the edges are jagged. Maybe they only need good artists and more render time.. who knows?

There is a limit to what could be "real-time"... since many of the material characteristics are viewpoint dependent. Baked solutions would have incorrect "specular" and "reflection" solutions... not to mention the problems of depth of field.

I've read on the fry forum that everyone who preorder the beta is under nda. maybe that's why there are not many images to show.

What i can say ( like fry preorder )is that is perfectly integrated on max .
Is very very stable . And all the stuff has ON on the beta is working fine .
is not like this works but doesnt work , they will work when ..... they simply say , on next beta , full working of , and at the moment ,
with the beta 1.2 and 1.3 , all said , all made . But still has
a way to finish .
And they say wait to buy , we are working . be looking at .
i think they dont have perhaps all the resources of next limit , but
i see good things on all this .
Too , its true that is going to be hard for them , take the quality renders
of Maxwell , but too , its true that Maxwell was preordered by
hundreds or thousands of people , and many of them , great
professionals that made and make one of the hardest works of all ,
create art and perfect renders .

All is still to come .
Do you remenber what many people of vray was/is saying about Maxwell quality and future ? Look it now the maxwell web and compare with
chaos group web . eh?

Caution . This is the competence thing , but i , like a user , happy .
If someone would must be looking with "fear" is NL team , but finally
they made their work . Then no problem . But perhaps now need a
baked thing , perhaps , for the people who works making real time .

I've asked for baking since beta versions.
Juan told me that there's some code in MX for baking, but silence since this.
Actually for me MX simply useless without baking illumination or full texture, that's why i'm not using it for now.
