sorry to bring this back (somewhat) on topic, but can't you export an IGES file which could then be opened by Maya?? I do this from Rhino all the time and seem to have good success.

dwg really isn't a good 3D format…

ya. i tried iges as the only other possible format. the problem is that any of the three sided polys i export (glass windows) are then reduced to a smaller coplanar quad. it looks weird!

i have not found a solution yet... a few weeks ago, this crap worked.

tomorrow, i'll have to be back in military service, so no response from me for almost a week..

Try Blender 3D, available from www.blender3d.org It's free and can import & export all formats of models.
