And ckeck you power cord - and if you happen to have an extra power source siting around try to test the board on it. The "touch the case thing" really brings static/grounding/short into the row of possible culprits.

Try it with another monitor also. Check the monitor's power cable.

Do you have any idea of how dry is the weather?

EDIT: Is the thing giving you eletric shocks? If not, gently rub the tip of you finger on some metal part of the case, with the machine running. If you feel some kind of "humming" by doing this you know the thing is charged somehow - Be carefull and don't blame me if you hair stretches out like a ginea pig... :wink: Do this with your shoes on!

They only use foam because it's non-conductive and it really helps to stabilize the board from moving while working on it. Many people just use a board, ....the pizza box is fine, but a nice thick bath towel is a good substitute for the foam. ....any chance you have one of those ? :P

could be, I have got any shocks from it. and this is Miami it doesn't get any more humid than this :D
