One of the really nice things about this scanner is the scanstudio software. The support button flips you to a wiki/flash/web screen interface. In there is all the help file, buglists, wishlists, ask question? etc. Now, if the software encounters an error you get flipped there automatically into a 'bug' chat where within a minute or so a chime goes off alerting you that an actually person from nextengine is in your chat. You go there and discuss the problem, as well as clicking the 3 buttons that post your softwares log file, screenshot and config file. It's kind of amazing. I've never really seen anything like it.

Anything else she might let you scan as an alternative to her face?

Well that's one way to look at it. My perspective is different as I used to pay more that the cost of this scanner to get single objects laser scanned with no texture maps and comparable or lesser quality.

All scanned objects require prep, and almost all require some hole filling, on my samples I have not done post processing since I'm only testing settings etc. Any how, your right, you get what you pay for, but I still consider it a great deal still!!!

I guess another aspect is the usage, I will use this for cmm or part measurment, I'm mainly interested in the point cloud for overall sizing - if there are holes are gaps I don't care that much, but I can see that if I only wanted to use it for scanning objects into a renderer that the quality issues could be much more frustrating.
