Forgive me for bringing this thread back "on-topic," but I was wondering if it was possible to get something like what Max has...

out of 3DS Max. I know he's not using 3DS Max, but maybe it has a way to do a clay render with wireframes?

One way that kinda works is to create a simple image like this in Photoshop (or whatever), and apply it to a basic Maxwell material:

Then apply a UVW map to your object and set the map type to "face":

For an output like this:

Jeff, you're the man. That's exactly what I was looking for.

Well, not EXACTLY what I was looking for, but it's a very good idea.

Alright Chris, .....have a look at this.

The other day I was just making up some quick desktop wallpapers with maxwell. The image is highly processed, but what I did do was bring in a 'faded' wireframe for effect.

For me, ...out of Rhino, ....I just did the render. Photoshopped the render (messing with hues, tint etc..). Got it to where I liked it , ....then did a screen shot capture from Rhino in shaded mode. Obviously, same camera. I could of also have done a render with the built in renderer and set all the materials to white. Anyway, ...I took both images, .....made the wireframe it's own new layer in PS, ....and 'transparency brushed' parts of it away.

Not sure if your interested, ....but it seemed somewhat relevant. :)
